You may have come across LibraryThing already. If you have, you'll know that it provides a convenient (and addictive) way to catalogue your books. Now the LibraryThing Plus Firefox extension gives you just that little bit extra.
Using LibraryThing Plus, you can search your catalog using your CueCat barcode scanner, have your ISBNs automatically validated for you, have a summary suggested for you when you edit book details, and more.
It can sometimes be difficult getting LibraryThing to sort your catalog just the way you want. But with LibraryThing Plus, simply select "Sort Order..." from the "LibraryThing Plus" menu, and you'll get a dialog box giving you a choice of more ways of sorting your books that you'd ever want. You'll also see a mini preview of what the sort you've selected will look like. Make your choice and press "OK" and your books with be in the order you asked for.
So, you've entered all your books on LibraryThing, but now you want to do your own thing with the data. There is an official export option on the tools page, which allows you to download your details in CSV or tab-delimited formats. Now LibraryThing Plus gives you additional flexibility with your download: you can choose which fields you want in your output file, and the file is guaranteed to have one book per line, making it extremely easy to work with. Load the file in your favourite spreadsheet application, such as OpenOffice.org Calc, and you have all your data at your fingertips.
